- Gem City Market, a full-service co-op grocery store located on Salem Avenue, is across the street from Longfellow. The retailer, opened May 2021, offers an abundance of fresh food, cooking classes, a community room for public use, a coffee bar, and a juice bar.
- Reconstruction and upgrades on Salem Avenue, from downtown to Miami Valley Golf Club is developing an entirely new roadway system. The project is transforming one of Dayton’s key corridors with new pavement, upgraded utilities, bus stops, curbs, and sidewalks with ornamental street lighting.

“Phoenix Next,” the northern gateway to Salem Avenue Peace Corridor, is a robust initiative to repurpose the 13-acre former hospital site at Salem Avenue and Philadelphia Dr. with a health and wellness center. The campus will house a Premier Health Medical Care Center and a full-service YMCA facility. Construction of the $45 million “Phoenix Next” was started in the Fall of 2022.
